This storyboard is intended to be used by an animator to make a 3D animation describing Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder for a patient population. I received a script and a few action notes to work with. In addition to a full tone illustration with selective color, each of the twenty-two boards includes the dialogue, action notes, and text that will appear on the screen. One of the more challenging parts of creating this storyboard was figuring out how to explain the phenomenon of air trapping to a lay audience. My solution was to show a callout of an alveolus next to a human figure in order to relate the action taking place at the microscopic scale to the more relatable scale of the figure. (see boards 20, 21, and 22)
